Data Jack Assessment and Activation
Available to: Faculty & Staff
Mason provides access to its network and telephone service via data jacks that are located in the walls of rooms and offices in university buildings. Not all jacks are activated at all times.
Prior to activation, an ITS technician will evaluate the condition of the designated network and telephone jacks to ensure that they are in proper working order.
The user is responsible for requesting activation and/or assessment of data jacks.
Requests for telephone service must be approved by the appropriate authority within the department. Approved requests must be submitted by the department’s Telecom Coordinator.
l users of the George Mason University network and telephone services must adhere to:
- University Policy Number 1301: Responsible Use of Computing
- University Policy Number 2204: Telephone Use
How to Get this Service
There is no charge for jack activation and assessment services or for network access, but monthly charges apply to all telephone services. If installation of a new jack is required, the installation charge will be billed to the requesting department.
