SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)

Service Summary

Software Center iconSCCM is a Microsoft tool for managing Mason owned PCs. It enables ITS to inventory hardware, distribute software, improve security and get a better understanding of the computers at Mason.

To use all the features of SCCM, ensure your Mason-owned computer is on MESA.

SCCM has the below features:
Inventory: Hardware and software, inventory collected by SCCM will help in determining machine replacement, component upgrades, and software license renewals.
Software Deployment: Deployment of approved software ensures compliance with software licenses and helps lowers costs.
Software Updates: These can be applied centrally, ensuring that applications are up to date, especially critical security updates.

You must be connected to the Mason Ethernet network or VPN network to use the features of SCCM. The computer must be on MESA with a functioning SCCM client and you must be a Mason employee.

How to Get this Service

On the Mason-owned computer that is joined to MESA, please do the following steps (note, if your computer is not joined to MESA, you will required to contact the ITS Support Center to put in an SDE request).

  1. Press the start button
  2. Search for Software Center
  3. Click on the Software Center application to load the catalog
  4. Select the application you wish to install
  5. Click the install button

Contact the ITS Support Center to put in a SDE request.

There is no charge for this service.

Availability

This service is available 24/7, excluding planned outages, normal maintenance windows, and unavoidable events. Maintenance windows are Sundays from 7 to 11 a.m. but may be extended to 2 p.m., if needed. If maintenance is required outside of these hours, it will be announced on the Planned Outages web page.
