CAS Client Reconfiguration on March 29

Information Technology Services is upgrading the Central Authentication Service (CAS) on Wednesday, March 29. Website servers using CAS that have outbound firewall rules will need to be updated to the new IP address (

CAS is a Single-Sign-On service Mason uses for authenticating individuals for a variety of websites. End users know CAS more commonly as the authentication method used by that grants access to multiple applications while requiring they provide their credentials (NetID and strong password) only once.

  • Impact on users: In most cases, users will experience little to no interruption as long as administrators of web services using CAS make the necessary updates. Websites that use CAS without switching to the new IP address will be unable to authenticate users.
  • Required actions by web service administrators: In order to ensure your sites are not impacted, please ensure that your CAS module is pointing to the new CAS IP address and that your server’s firewall allows traffic to the new CAS IP address (
